Waste To Energy In South Korea:In 1995, Mr. Norton was employed by Millipo International Company to analyze and make recommendations regarding the possibility of Waste-to-Energy for using Korean solid waste to generate electricity or district heating for several cities throughout South Korea. This work included a series of 4 visits to Seoul, Inchon, Pusan, Pohan, and Taegu, South Korea to inspect the suitability of suggested sites, examine the nature of the local municipal trash, and discuss the subject and its technical aspects with many government officials, from the head of the Korean "EPA" to potential host mayors and councilmen. These visits took place in 1996, 1997, and 1999. The project did not move into being due to Korean solid waste energy content concerns and lack of agreements for energy sales and solid waste flow control. |
