Parking Lot Location prior to construction |
In 2009, a Church in Sugarcreek Township requested Norton Engineering to run drainage calculations and write a report regarding the adequacy of their onsite stormwater drainage facilities. They intended to add a new parking lot the next year and needed to make sure the detention basin would be able to handle the extra runoff from the site. Norton ran the stormwater models, wrote a report, and recommended methods of getting the stormwater runoff from the new parking lot to the existing detention pond. |
In 2010, Norton was contracted again to create construction drawings for the proposed parking lot, complete with a drainage plan. The parking lot was constructed in the Spring of 2010. The stormwater flows off the parking lot as sheet flow and is directed by a grassed berm into the detention basin. The basin was modified to accommodate the runoff, and proper primary and overflow outlet structures were designed and retrofitted. | Pond Outlet Structure before modification |
